Impromptu

2009

This Impromptu is part of an open-ended sequence of solo piano pieces.

It was composed for my mother's 60th birthday party, and contains many numerological references to her - the number 60, her date of birth, her name reduced in arithmantic form.

Despite all the high-brow numerology however, the piece is really intended as a fond, fun birthday tribute, and is quite free in nature, a little suggestive of late-night jazz.
